Cox Industrial services was called out to survey an old booster system in a commercial office building. The existing booster system was so noisy the occupants were complaining. System pressure was too low to provide adequate flow to the roof equipment. They had an old style system with constant speed motors and pressure regulating valves. The pumps were worn out, the regulating valves did not work, and the shut off valves leaked. We recommended replacing the entire system with a new Aquavar VFD booster system including new copper piping and all valves. We installed the new system on a Sunday so that it wouldn’t interrupt the weekly schedule. Comments from the engineering staff were that the system was operating better than they had ever seen and was so quiet they didn’t know it was running.
